Children
How can a Psychologist and counselling for children help?
Child psychologists are skilled in assessment and treatment of various behavioural, emotional and learning difficulties. A child psychologist may be sought for guidance and help with concerns such as: developmental delay, atypical social or behavioural patterns, emotional adjustment that may occur in divorce / separation circumstances, grief and loss, and environment transitions.
Child psychologists also provide therapy for issues like anger, stress with school, and self-confidence; as well as more entrenched pervasive clinical presentations such as: autisim spectrum disorders, ADHD, oppositional defiance disorder, and learning disabilities. The involvement of parents and at times, other family members, is critical to ensuring the effectiveness of therapy with a child psychologist.
