Grief / Loss
What is Grief?
Grief and loss often result in emotional responses such as shock, sadness, anxiety, panic and anger. These emotions can become overwhelming and interfere with daily life – such as making it difficult to think clearly, low motivation, social withdrawal and disturbed sleep.
Grief is normal and is a part of life that can either be temporary or extended. But, in the depths of grief, especially if alone, it is useful to be assisted or to be informed of ways to cope with grief and loss. And it can be comforting – even empowering – to find someone to talk to.
Counselling can help you manage and even overcome the symptoms relating to grief and loss by helping you understand and accept the factors underlying your emotional experiences and responses. Counselling can provide you with the skills to cope you’re your unique situation through an individualised therapeutic process with a suitably matched psychologist.
