Dr.

Fernanda Barros

Psychologist
Over 10 years in private practice
Fernanda Barros is a highly experienced psychologist who enjoys supporting people from all walks of life dealing with anxiety, depression, life- transitions and past traumas.

Approach

Fernanda adopts a client centred method unique to each individuals needs. She trained in existential-phenomenology which is a philosophical approach aiming to understand someone in the context of their lives. We create meaning from what we go through and adopt maladaptive or healthy strategies to cope with stress.

Therapy becomes a collaborative process in which I can invite different questions, perspectives and ideas. This process allows for a deeper understanding and unfolding of different possibilities to move forward in life, becoming unstuck and more self- reflective.

Experience

As a psychologist, I have worked in London across different specialist organisations aimed to help people recover from addictions . I gained experience in bereavement counselling, addiction recovery and relationship issues.

I wrote my doctorate in an Existential – Phenemenological approach to addiction.

I diversified my practice as a psychologist in the NHS, GP surgeries and private practice. I particularly enjoy working with couples, parenting challenges, relationship and interpersonal difficulties as well as identity issues. I have worked as a mental health professional since 2006 and I love sparking change and supporting clients to thrive in their lives as they feel heard and seen .
